چکیده

The Australian Bureau of Meteorology has a requirement for complex and evolving systems to manage its weather forecasting, monitoring and alerts. A needs analysis has indicated that due to the nature of the domain, where the environment is constantly changing and there are numerous different goals, intelligent multi agent systems technology is highly appropriate. This paper describes a pilot project that provides the basis on which the rest of the system will be built. The pilot system monitors in real time the current Terminal Area Forecasts (forecasts in areas around airports) and alerts forecasters to inconsistencies between these and observations obtained from the Automatic Weather Station (AWS) data. The contributions of the paper are a description of the overall architecture including legacy components, and the mechanisms that have been used to interface to legacy components; a description of an inferencing mechanism, available in recent versions of the JACK Intelligent Agents toolkit which has been particularly useful in some of the reasoning needed in this application; and a detailed description of the architecture for data sharing and data management. The pilot system is currently deployed and the project is underway to extend this to the much larger system.

A multi Agent System Based on Modified Shifting Bottleneck and Search Techniques for Job Shop Scheduling Problems

This paper presents a multi agent system for the job shop scheduling problems. The proposed system consists of initial scheduling agent, search agents, and schedule management agent. In initial scheduling agent, a modified Shifting Bottleneck is proposed. That is, an effective heuristic approach and can generate a good solution in a low computational effort. In search agents, a hybrid search ap...

An Online Q-learning Based Multi-Agent LFC for a Multi-Area Multi-Source Power System Including Distributed Energy Resources

This paper presents an online two-stage Q-learning based multi-agent (MA) controller for load frequency control (LFC) in an interconnected multi-area multi-source power system integrated with distributed energy resources (DERs). The proposed control strategy consists of two stages. The first stage is employed a PID controller which its parameters are designed using sine cosine optimization (SCO...

An Open Meteorological Alerting System: Issues and Solutions

This paper describes an experimental alerting system under development by the Australian Bureau of Meteorology, initially targetted at (but not restricted to) the aviation sector. The system provides alert routing and filtering: for example pressure readings from automated weather stations may conflict with a local terminal aerodrome forecast, resulting in an alert being displayed to forecaster...

A multi agent method for cell formation with uncertain situation, based on information theory

This paper assumes the cell formation problem as a distributed decision network. It proposes an approach based on application and extension of information theory concepts, in order to analyze informational complexity in an agent- based system, due to interdependence between agents. Based on this approach, new quantitative concepts and definitions are proposed in order to measure the amount of t...
